     Charles Drew was one of America's best physicians, because he was the first person to introduce a system for the  storing of blood plasma.

Charles Drew was born on June 3,1904 in Washington, D.C. Richard Drew, his father, was happily married to Nora Drew. Charles Drew was the eldest of 5 children. As a child, he had a great athletic talent and was an exceptional individual all his life. He began his education in a public elementary. He went to Amherst College in 1926, McGill University in 1928, and Columbia University in 1938. He graduated from Columbia University. Charles Drew has won many awards and has accomplished a bucketload of things. Some of the awards that he recevied are the James E. Walker Memorial Medal for his athletic ability, Thomas W. Ashley Memorial Trophy for athletics, ES Jones Award for his knowledge of medical science, Spingarn Medal from NAACP for his work on blood and plasma, and honorary doctorates for his brainiac ability on medical science. He died on April 1, 1950. He is known today for organizing America's first large scale blood bank.
